Suddenly its autumn or is it ?
John Keats (1795–1821)

SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

Garden Diary

Suddenly its autumn or is it ?

I had thought summer over, pumpkins, squash harvested, sweet corn going over, and then the sun returns 26 degrees for days on end. Sunflowers are flowering again, second flushes of annuals, cosmos seedlings flowering and yet more courgettes!

Its odd, the fields are full of crackling dry brown sunflowers, my garden is full with them in all stages of growth. I am collecting seeds and thininng out simultaneously. Sweeping up leaves and picking Tomatoes, Borlotti beans,Sweet corn, Aubergines and Peppers.

Summer in the UK sounds like a wet disappointment, I am enjoying this one while it lasts, without the Gulfstream the winters can bite.
